This was shot fopr the cover of the Winnipeg Men Magazine A profile on Garth Buchko, the new CEO of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and of courses talking about the new facility which is still under construction. Standing on the meridian at the end of Chancellor Drive, it was a challenge to overcome the ambient lighting and create some impact. Fortunately I was able to over power the sun and give the sky a deep blue.
Here’s a cool story. Way back in the summer of 2008 I did a series of ads for Warehouse One. 4 concepts, but here’s the two that were shot in one day. We shot the first concept, the swimmer, at the Uof M pool. The 2nd one, the cheerleader, we couldn’t get access to the Bomber stadium, but thats’ ok. We’d just photoshop in a full stadium, MCG being the agency not only on this shoot but for the Bombers also. At the time there was NO talk of a new stadium, or if it was it was the start of the whole Point Douglas debate.
Logistically, right after the swimmers we needed to find a wide open field to shoot in, turns out the best place was the soccer fields. yep you guessed it. We shot football cheerleaders in the exact spot they’ll be cheering this season, years before it was even a consideration! Kinda neat eh?
